June the 25th, 2024 – German tourists in Croatia are typically wowed by the beauty, the weather, the sea… I could go on. Our fuel prices, however, is what is currently winning them over.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, hopping in the car and driving to Croatia is a very frequent summer holiday option for Germans. Croatia offers its visitors beautiful landscapes, exceptionally rich cultural heritage and more tourist attractions than you can count.

There’s no shortage of Germans on this country’s roads when the weather heats up. Typically trundling along the motorway heading for the coast in large motorhomes and in cars packed to the very roof with stuff, they’re a common sight at this time of year.

However, one thing that particularly surprised German tourists in Croatia has been something we’ve been complaining about for ages now – our fuel prices. At petrol stations across the country, German tourists in Croatia claimed to have experienced something they hadn’t seen in their homeland for a very, very long time, reports Fenix magazine.

A post was recently published in the Facebook group “Urlaub in Kroatien” showing the current fuel prices at Croatian petrol stations up and down the country. A litre of petrol costs only 1.38 euros here, which left many Germans in a state of total disbelief. By comparison, fuel prices in Germany are significantly higher.

Members of the group expressed their delight and disbelief in the comments. For many tourists in Croatia, driving in this country has become a more relaxed and cheaper option compared to using public transport. One user even wrote: “Finally, filling up your tank is fun again.”
