June the 24th, 2023 – A brand new Istrian care home is currently being constructed with the aim of improving the entire living standards of the elderly in the region.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, at a recent meeting between the Mayor of the Municipality of Medulin, Ivan Kirac, and representatives of the municipal organisation of the Croatian Party of Pensioners (HSU) of Medulin, there was talk of the construction of a new Istrian care home in the Mukalba area.
An 8.5 million euro price tag
A valid building permit has already been obtained for the large Istrian care home project, and it has also been nominated for funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Programme. The estimated value of building and equipping the home currently stands at 8.5 million euros, and when the funds are approved and the home is built, it will be a municipal public institution, reports local portal Istarski.hr.
Subsidisation
In addition, there was a discussion about the Programme of Public Needs in Health and Social Care, which otherwise represents an important area of activity of the HSU. Special emphasis was placed on preferential bus transportation, subsidising the stay of the elderly in private homes, the payment of the Christmas bonus according to the means test, and the creation of a card for pensioners to prove their status.
Pensioners will be actively involved in creating a budget
The mayor informed the party that in the budget of the Municipality of Medulin for 2023, significant funds were provided for the payment of Christmas bonuses to pensioners for the first time. It should also be noted that pensioners will be actively involved in the creation of the municipal budget in order to improve their overall standard from now on.
