October the 24th, 2025 – Istrian truffles have been auctioned in London as Istria’s tourism is spotlighted in the British capital city and one of Europe and the world’s most important metropolises.

As Morski writes, as part of the wider initiative of the Istria County Tourist Board, Sotheby’s held a successful auction of one of the world’s most highly valued gastronomic treasures – the much sought after Istrian white truffles.

In the magnificent space of The Drawing Room of the famous auction house Sotheby’s on London’s New Bond Street, an exclusive charity auction of Istrian white truffles was held on October the 21st.

It was organised by the Istria County Tourist Board and with a donation from the famous Karlić family of truffle growers from the town of Paladini near Buzet, whose truffle-making tradition has been going on since 1966 and has become a prestigious brand name. Three exceptional examples of Istrian white truffles were offered at the auction in London – a capital of 525 grams and examples of 175 and 120 grams, which together achieved a value of 15,300 British pounds, or 17,500 euros!

What is even more encouraging still is the information that the entire amount collected from Istrian truffles being auctioned in London will be forwarded to the Veruda Day Rehabilitation Centre in Pula. This centre provides the proper conditions for rehabilitation, education, and upbringing of children with all kinds of developmental disabilities throughout all of Istria County.
