This year, Pula Airport expects traffic of about 700 thousand passengers, which would be eual to 15 percent more than last year.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 1st of May, 2018, the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner on a TUI Airway flight from London Gatwick landed at Pula Airport on Tuesday the 1st of May, one of the largest aircraft ever to land at the Istrian airport.

The large plane arrived in Pula carrying a total of 329 passengers who will be staying in Istria during the coming days. Commonly used for so-called “long haul” travel to far away destinations, the aircraft is consistent with the strictest ecological requirements in regard to noise pollution and the emission of harmful gases. This is the first time that a plane of this type has ever landed in Pula, and it will be making itself much more of a common sight, running from the 1st of May through to the 2nd of October every Tuesday on its London Gatwick – Pula route.

“The TUI company always has about 98 percent of its capacity filled, and this is the first time that a plane of this type has ever landed in Pula. Before this, bigger aircraft like the Boeing 747 would arrive too, but this aircraft is new, and its next generation technology is quieter and easier,” Pula Airport’s director Svemir Radmilo explained to interested journalists.

He added that only thanks to this route, about fifty thousand guests would arrive in Istria by the beginning of October, who will of course spend their time in various Istrian tourist facilities, including Istria’s many beautiful hotels and private/family accommodation.

As previously mentioned, Pula Airport is expecting an excellent year, with predictions of a fifteen percent increase in arrivals when compared to 2017.

“These are our real expectations, and this year, Pula will be connected with a total of 60 destinations across Europe, with direct flights,” concluded Radmilo.
