June 30, 2023 – Getting to and around Croatia in the summer is fairly straightforward, but not always easy. It’s a small country, and everywhere you go might seem a little overpacked with people. And even though most of the national transport providers have been introducing new lines, it feels like it could be more efficient. Out of all the available modes of transport, it does often seem that sea transport has been underutilized. The connections to most Croatian islands are good and schedules dense enough, but what has been lacking is connections between the cities on the coast. And now, finally, the national sea transport provider, Jadrolinija, is introducing a Rijeka-Zadar ferry line. The fast ferry line will run daily, connecting the islands between the two cities as well.
As Index writes, from tomorrow, July 1, Jadrolinija is introducing a new fast Rijeka-Zadar ferry line that will connect the islands Rab, Veli Losinj, Novalja, Silba and the city of Zadar. The return line from Zadar to Rijeka will run on the same day. The catamaran sets sail from Rijeka at 7:00 a.m., and the expected arrival in Zadar is between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., depending on the order of navigation, that is, the ports of call on the islands, announced Jadrolinija.
Rijeka-Zadar Ferry Line for Better Connection of Islands and Coast
The new Rijeka-Zadar line will allow passengers a quick and comfortable trip to Zadar and the enjoyment of sailing without summer traffic jams, Jadrolinija says. Additionally, one-day trips to attractive tourist destinations will now be much more accessible.
The main vessel of the Rijeka-Zadar ferry line will be the “Dubravka” catamaran, and the expected sailing duration of this fast line is until August 31. There is also a possibility of extension for better traffic connections between the islands and the coast, as well as Kvarner and northern Dalmatia, if the need arises, the press release states.
