February the 20th, 2026 – A Krapina-Zagreb project has earned recognition from the Financial Times with its innovative TT Kabeli (Cables) project.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Sinisa Malus writes, Krapina-Zagorje County has won the third Financial Times award with the TT Kabeli project. This globally reputable business newspaper organised the Investment Impact Awards for the very first time through its department fDi Intelligence.
These are international awards that differ from classic investment rankings in that they evaluate not only the size of the investment in question, but its actual impact on the economy and society as a whole. The goal of the award is to recognise projects that alter regional development in the long term. This includes the introduction of quality employment opportunities, technological progress, education, sustainability and compliance with given national strategies.
A total of 106 applications were received from a large number of European countries and various industries, among which was the application from the Krapina-Zagorje County with its impressive TT Kabeli project. It involves the project of building a factory for the production of medium and high voltage cables in the area of the Municipality of Bedekovčina. With this project, the group is expanding its production capacities within the European Union and approaching key markets in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
County Prefect Željko Kolar emphasised that for Krapina-Zagorje, this Financial Times recognition represents a lot for the county and confirms that it can attract and retain technologically advanced investments.
“This new factory contributes to the development of the local supply chain, the creation of quality jobs outside large urban centres and the strengthening of the industrial base of northwestern Croatia. That’s an important factor directly related to the progress of the county is the employment of experts. This is how new knowledge in mechatronics, automation and electrical engineering is developed in our area, and this investment not only creates jobs, but also allows for the transfer of competences to the local economy. Our Invest in Zagorje platform and the Krapina-Zagorje County Entrepreneurial Centre played an important role in the implementation of the investment,” Kolar concluded.
