April the 14th, 2024 – The Križevci geothermal energy production system has now been established, with two projects currently ongoing.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, currently, two commendable projects in the field of geothermal energy are underway in Križevci. They were co-financed as part of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 in the amount of almost one million euros.
Entitled “The development of technical documentation for the use of geothermal energy in the area of Križevci” and “The establishment of a system for the production of geothermal energy in the area of Križevci”, the promise they hold as far as Križevci geothermal energy is concerned is strong.
Less than three weeks ago, hydrodynamic tests were carried out in the Križevčanka-1 geothermal well with the primary aim of determining the characteristics and parameters of the reservoir required for future exploitation.
Oil and mining operations began with the measurement of static temperature(s) and the levels of pressure in the reservoir, which confirmed the extremely high thermal potential. This was taking into account that at a depth of 1,440 metres, temperatures as high as 90.4 °C were measured. This was followed by an extensive hydrodynamic test with the installation of a pump at depths of 300 and 500 metres, as well as what’s known as a well test at four production conditions: 5 l/s, 7.4 l/s, 9.5 l/s and 15 l/s.
Under all production conditions, the dynamic level of geothermal water was stable, which indicates a geothermal reservoir with very favourable characteristics lies below. The highest recorded temperature at the mouth of the well, during the hydrodynamic measurement, stood at an impressive 79.5 °C.
The test results fully confirmed the expected geothermal energy potential of this wider area. According to preliminary estimates, it indicates the possibility of generating 3 MWt of thermal energy.
Next comes working out the level of those reserves of geothermal water in the research area in Križevci. That will determine the boundaries and distribution of the geothermal deposit, as well as the dynamics of extraction and the possibility of using the Križevci thermal energy contained in the extracted geothermal water.
Križevci’s ultimate goal is to use the geothermal well Križevčanka -1 for heating the complex of public buildings located in the immediate vicinity of the well.
The holder of the project called ”The establishment of a system for the production of geothermal energy in the area of Križevci” is Križevci, and the partners are Komunalno poduzeće (Križevci Utility Company d.o.o.) and the Icelandic company EFLA hf.
