A second birthday for a popular Croatian shop in Zagreb.
Take Me Home – Croatian Design Shop in Zagreb is a favourite gift shop for lovers of Croatian design and creative products, and this November it is celebrating its second birthday with growing popularity among local and foreign visitors. It originated from the idea to gather at one place quality products made by Croatian authors. Take Me Home has seen a lot of business success this year, but the biggest is certainly that, according to owner Ranka Grgić Posavec, it managed to reach its second birthday and keep operating without any financial assistance, reports Poslovni.hr on November 18, 2015.
The good reputation of this small store has spread from America to Japan. Take Me Home was featured during the summer in a number of international media. It was even mentioned in a New York Times article about five of the most interesting shops in Zagreb selling local products. According to the owner, many visitors came to see for themselves the shop which was mentioned in the New York Times. The shop has recently been recommended by Sunday Times and Financial Review from Australia as well, and has been included in a tourist show about Zagreb broadcast on Japanese television.
“We are pleased that the excellent products of creative people from Croatia have been recognized and appreciated far beyond the borders of our country, which is our own small contribution to the positive image and promotion of Croatia as a country which, in addition to beautiful nature, can offer high-quality, locally produced and well-designed products”, Ranka Grgić Posavec added.
Trying to fulfil the wishes of its regular customers who are looking for original gifts, Take Me Home enters its third year of business with many new ideas. Among the latest interesting products, there is a collection of silver jewellery by Smiljka Franjić and Zdravka Radić, the first English edition of “Zlatarevo Zlato” prepared by Hamper Studio, the new series of designer souvenirs from “Oh, No Workshop”, excellent illustrations by 24 Croatian authors in Some Other New Year calendars, a traditional Croatian lace converted into simple necklaces Made by Fliga Maja Bujas, and new collection of Christmas decorations by Marina Marinski, Martina Šimunković and Tea Radić. Also, for the first time, Take Me Home will feature a visit by Slovenian artist Rebeka Perko whose painted cups will be sold during December.
