The application process for young startups and companies is now open.
Startup Factory Zagreb, a pre-accelerator programme developed by Zagreb Development Agency and the City of Zagreb is looking for startups they can help develop through 10 weekly modules. Applications are open starting today, August 17. The programme would like to help different types of startups this year, related to tourism, energetics, mobility and the elderly, Netokracija reports on August 17, 2017.
The second edition of Startup Factory Zagreb will help startups and small companies develop their programmes during ten weeks of mentoring, educations, and financial support, the total worth of which is EUR 100,000.
This year’s edition will give a chance to an even greater number of startups, meaning that 20 of them will develop their ideas at Zagreb Development’s Technologic Park.
The teams first have to go through a preselection process, after which they will be invited to a ten-week mentorship programme so they could present their ideas at the market better. The teams won’t have to give up their ownership in their companies because the programme has a no equity investment model, with the presumption that the City of Zagreb will later invest in startups that have been successful in their programme and that have shown a potential for growth.
New areas
Four areas will be included in this year’s Startup Factory pre-accelerator:
- Smart City Tourism, dealing with innovative solutions in tourism, the aim of which is to strengthen Zagreb’s tourism offer, including innovative tourism products based on iBeacon and virtual reality, as well as socially responsible solutions for persons with disabilities, LGBT persons, and members of various subcultures,
- Smart Energy, an area aimed at smart solutions in energetics, with an emphasis on being ecologically responsible, such as noise and light pollution protection,
- Smart Mobility, based on solutions that will reduce pollution and increase traffic efficiency, including the city’s public transport system,
- Smart Silver Economy, which will develop ideas to improve the status of the elderly, which the EU calls the silver economy.
When it comes to startups and developer teams that can apply, Startup Factory has said that all teams and startups that have been around for less than a year and that can offer solutions that fit the programme’s description. Teams needn’t be from Zagreb, but their company will have to be registered in Zagreb so they could get a non-refundable grant.
Application deadline is September 17, and you can find out more here.
