Croatian Fish Traps in the Form of Clover a Hit Among Fishermen

Total Croatia News

What happens when you combine clover with fishing in Croatia? Meet Crotrap.

Dario Marinov from Split is a fisherman who has over the years learned a lot about the behaviour of different species of fish and has created a unique fishing tool on the basis of his rich experience. It is a fish trap in the form of clover which he calls Crotrap. Since he is a commercial fisherman, he has designed the tool which will serve both professionals and amateurs. Crotrap is characterized by a unique shape and the fact that it has no disadvantages which exist in other similar tools, reports Poslovni.hr on Septmber 7, 2015.

“The current fish traps all have some drawbacks, an inefficient shape that confuses the fish which cannot find a way in it, size that prevents rapid manipulation, complicated structure which requires a lot of material and time which increases the price of the product, and many are even improperly made which means the fishermen risk possible penalties”, explained Marinov. He says that the tools which are commonly available on the market are not adapted to modern way of fishing. That is why he has decided to make a tool that he will use himself. He has been working on the idea for several years, but has now finally successfully achieved his goal and created a tool that will have a future in the world of professional fishing.

“Crotrap did not come overnight. First, I have made a trap which has not brought about the results that I expected, so I continued to work in order to create the most effective tool. After five models in batches of about twenty pieces, several years of research and a lot of time and money, I have finally made the Crotrap”, says Marinov.

The production has already started, so from the beginning of the year the Crotrap can be found in most stores of fishing equipment in Croatia, and the market reaction is excellent. Many fellow fishermen have asked him about traps for larger fish, so Marinov is now working on two new models. He has started research in the field of fishing gear for shrimps as well. “Due to the great depths, the research and development will take longer than with the Crotrap”, says Marinov who aims to create another tool which will have a future among professional fishermen.
