Now all it’s missing is an Oscar
Filmmakers from across Europe gathered in Berlin on December 12, 2015 for this year’s European Film Awards and the Croatian film industry has a good reason to celebrate. After more than 3 000 members of the European Film Academy voted for their favourites in 21 different categories, Croatian short film Picnic (Piknik) directed by Jure Pavlović received the award for the Best European Short Film 2015.
“This movie had a long, and sometimes very painful journey, but we had the support of many amazing people so I want to everyone who helped us and the entire cast and crew” said director Jure Pavlović in his acceptance speech.
This is not the first international award Picnic received, back in August, it also won the Best Short Film award at the 19th International Film Festival in Rhode Island in the US, which also meant it was shortlisted for possible Oscar nominations. It was recently included in the official programme of the International Short Film Festival in Clermont -Ferrand.
Croatian audience will be able to see it during the third Short movie marathon which will take place in 23 movie theatres in 19 cities in Croatia December 18 – 21.
