Good opportunity for promotion of Croatian fashion was not missed.
The visit of the British royal couple, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, brought together people from public and political life to the official dinner at the Presidential Palace. Ladies have mostly chosen creations with a Croatian signature for this occasion, reports tportal.hr on March 18, 2016.
It is a long tradition around the world to attend important social events in clothes made by local designers. Socializing with the British royal couple was an ideal opportunity for Croatian ladies to do the same. “The tradition of the statesmen around the world, including in Croatia, is to show up in clothes made by local designers. Former Presiden Ivo Josipović was loyal to Siscia, and his wife to Estare Culto, while the current President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović also wears clothes made by various local designers. These are important national events where it is usual to show this aspect of patriotism as well, even though I am sure that they privately prefer world-famous brands”, said stylist and designer Boris Banović.
For the first encounter with the royal couple, President Grabar-Kitarović wore a white dress and a gray jacket by Aman. For dinner with them, she wore a skirt and jacket combination by Ivica Skoko.
“Of course, I consider it a positive trend that more and more women from public life recognize the quality and aesthetics of Croatian designers. The only true confirmation of designers’ work in the fashion industry is that their clothes are being worn, as this gives the clothes a life and a purpose”, Martina Budek from the Aman fashion house said, adding that she was proud of the collaboration with the President and extremely glad that she chooses Croatian fashion brands.
The wife of the Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković also had the opportunity to show her styling preferences, and she chose one of the country’s most famous fashion houses Linea Exclusive.
“Well, this is certainly a nice confirmation of our work and perseverance, and it is absolutely flattering. It gives us the motivation to continue and to become even better in our work”, Linea representatives said.
