Electric Vehicle Charging Station Opened in Novi Vinodolski

Total Croatia News

The Croatian Electric Power Company (HEP) has opened about 50 public stations for charging electric vehicles.

The Croatian Electric Power Company (HEP) has opened an ELEN electric vehicle charging station in Novi Vinodolski, located at the local bus station, reports Večernji List on October 31, 2017.

The charging station was opened by Velimir Piškulić, the Mayor of Novi Vinodolski, and Domagoj Vego, a member of the eMobility Team and head of HEP’s Project Management Department. The station was opened as a result of a joint initiative, with the Town of Novi Vinodolski providing the location and HEP acquiring and installing the station itself.

The station can simultaneously charge two vehicles, with an AC mode3 type2 charging type, and with a charging time of between one to four hours, depending on the battery status of the car and the inverter type installed in the car itself. For now, charging on ELEN stations is free, but it is possible only with an RFID identification card, which can be obtained by owners of electric vehicles in Croatia by sending an email to [email protected].

HEP has so far installed about 50 public ELEN charging stations in cooperation with towns and interested partners. Addition stations in Pag, Drniš, Solin and other towns are in various phases of construction. Also, with co-financing from the European Union, HEP is preparing to open fast charging stations on motorway corridors.

HEP is among the first companies in Croatia which have recognised the European trend of introducing sustainable development elements into the energy and transport sectors. For this reason, it enters into the development projects of electro-mobility as an equal partner with interested towns, local self-government units and all other parties which have an interest and desire to modernize public and private transport systems and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and to the environmental protection, in accordance with the European directives on infrastructure for alternative fuels.

At the end of 2016, HEP was named an Alternative Fuel Ambassador for the development of the eMobility project and the promotion of electro-mobility in Croatia.
