A craft distillery specialising in the production of gin will soon be opened in Zagreb.
With the rise in popularity of Croatian gins, the new Luftbremzer Distillery will be unique because it will specialise just in the production of gin from indigenous Croatian ingredients, reports buro247.hr on November 25, 2017.
The trio leading the project is Filip Presečki, the creator; Vedran Lulić, the chief distiller; and Krešimir Agbaba, the marketing manager. For the purpose of project implementation, they have launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform to buy necessary equipment.
“Gin is a highly desirable and attractive drink in Croatia, whose consumption currently largely depends on imported brands. The Luftbremzer Distillery will create top-quality drinks of a highly local character, conveying the aromas, values and lifestyle of our modern society. That is why we will base our production on ingredients just from Croatia, supplied by local family farms,” says Presečki, a geologist by profession.
They want the Luftbremzer gin to be natural, organic and produced with as few industrial processes as possible. In order to fully develop the idea, Presečki recently resigned as an engineer and project manager in the oil industry, and in that way demonstrated his commitment to the venture.
The idea was first conceived two years ago. During this period, the team worked diligently on research, testing and developing the recipe and ingredients, drafting the business plan and technological solutions for the distillery, and creating the brand visual identity.
“Our business is based on craft production, focusing on quality, detail and knowledge of plant origin. We are currently working on setting up a specialised distillery facility that will enable us to ensure a consistent and safe production of gin according to our recipes,” says Lulić, a biotechnologist who has gained the necessary experience while working in industrial facilities for the production of alcoholic beverages. “I managed and supervised large-scale day-to-day production processes, which was a great pleasure. However, my favourite part of a day was to go with my grandfather to see him produce brandy in his own small distillery. The Luftbremzer Distillery will be a blend of both worlds: it will be based on the strict professional rules, but guided by passion.”
In addition to the excellent taste, the Luftbremzer gin will be exceptional in a visual sense as well. Under the guidance of the Bunch design studio, the team has created a visual identity which communicates the philosophy of the distillery.
“The name of the Luftbremzer Distillery derives from an old local word for a person who knows what is going on in the town and enjoys socialising. It is associated with friendliness and sincerity, which are the values which lead us both privately and in business,” explains Agbaba.
Although they already have a recipe and know where they will purchase herbs, alcohol and other raw materials, the team is still working on financing the distillery facility itself. In order to raise funds for the necessary distillation equipment, the group has launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform.
