Air Albania to Connect Zagreb and Tirana in 2018

Total Croatia News

The new routes to Zagreb’s new terminal continue to be announced, with the Albanian capital of Tirana the latest, reports ExYuAviation on November 25, 2017.

One more route for Zagreb’s new airport terminal to handle in 2018, it seems. ExYuAviation is reporting that the new national Albanian carrier, Air Albania, which will launch next year with support from Turkish Airlines and the Turkish President, will include Zagreb in its initial regional flight schedule.

Currently, there are no direct flight connections between Croatia and Albania, with the closest option Adria Airways to Tirana from Ljubljana. Air Serbia also flies to Tirana from Belgrade, a successful route for Albanians and their diaspora who want to travel onwards to destinations such as New York and elsewhere.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Turkey this week finalising the project, and he confirmed that Zagreb would be one of the initial destinations when the airline launches next year.

“The new airline will help strengthen regional connectivity with flights to Pristina, Skopje, Podgorica, Sarajevo and Zagreb, as well as points in western Europe.”
