Harvard Students Praise the Famous Croatian Kulen

Kulen keeps winning over hedonistic hearts.

The most promising students from the renowned Harvard University had an opportunity to taste the best of the Croatian traditional foods at the 2nd edition of Picnic, the meeting place of the communication industry and business, that was held in Zagreb. Kulen from Baranja was the star of the event, reports Poslovni.hr on May 14, 2016.

Before the formal lectures, which were given by the experts from the Harvard University and from Croatia, a meeting was held between the most successful of the Harvard students and representatives of the most successful Croatian startups. However, during the presentations involving the latest achievements of the local startup entrepreneurs, the tradition was not left out. And this tradition included a rich offer on the dinner table and great local food that comes with it. Students, a part of the Harvard group but originally coming from various countries around the world, tasted different Croatian delicacies, including kulen from Baranja, which was very soon gone from the table.

“Kulen from Baranja is one of the most famous meat products from Slavonia and Baranja, while Belje company is the biggest producer and exporter of this iconic product in Croatian gastronomy with a tradition that started one hundred years ago. This delicacy, very rich in taste, which the American students liked very much, requires a lot of handwork and the best of ingredients. It is made according to old recipes and smoked at open fireplaces. We are happy that the quality of our Baranja kulen has been recognized among these young people who have an opportunity to travel around the world and taste different foods and flavors. We hope that they will take the samples they got here to the United States”, said Miodrag Komlenić from Belje.

Kulen from Baranja is a product with protected geographical origin according to EU rules and regulations, and besides its presentation and recognition at this specific event it has also received praise at the recently held international food exhibition „Alimentaria“ in Barcelona.
