How to Build a House in Croatia: Start from Bosnia!

Total Croatia News

A Google Earth scan of Croatia’s borders on July 29, 2017, reveals an interesting development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has encroached into Croatian territory.

Are we entering into a new era of cross-border friendship and unity in the region?

Firstly, Conde Nast Traveler reported on the bar on the Slovenian border which is located in both Croatia and Slovenia. Head to the toilets in Croatia, head to the fridge for a cold one in Slovenia. Read more about that one here.

And then the hug that captured the region – what happens when Serbs and Croats play waterpolo at the highest level.

But nothing celebrates friendship and unity more than neighbours living peacefully side by side, which is why this interesting image from Google Earth caught our attention.

Located just a few minutes from Dubrovnik, just off the road to Cilipi and the airport, there is a turn for a border crossing which eventually takes you to Trenije. The border crossing, at Brgat Gornji, is clearly marked on the map, as is the border between the two countries.

The majority of the development is in BiH, but not all.

The phrase ‘building permits’ comes to mind, and it would be interesting to see how this was dealt with. Bosnian building permits, with permission to extend into a neighbouring country. Who will be connecting the electricity?

We will look into the development a little more and report back, but if you have any information – or indeed any more quirky border stories – please contact us at [email protected]
