From now on, citizens will have to pay 120 HRK if they want to park near the popular picnic spot
Zagrebparking’s decision to start charging parking on Bundek has caused outrage from the citizens on social networks.
The popular “wild” parking spot that was free and used by most visitors, between Most slobode (Liberty Bridge), Most mladosti (Youth Bridge), Sava embankment and Ulica Damira Tomljanovića Gavrana, has turned into a pricey parking spot. As of June 21, it is part of the I.2 (red) zone, meaning that you can only buy a daily ticket, while the less expensive 60-minute parking ticket will not possible here. Drivers will be able to stay at the spot for 15 minutes for free and, after that, they will be charged 120 HRK for the entire day, no matter how much time they’re planning to spend at Bundek. This means that a daily ticket in Bundek is 20 HRK more expensive that a daily ticket at other red zone spaces in Zagreb.

The ticket can be purchased at Ulica grada Vukovara 41and Šubićeva ulica 40/III, or it will be issued by the parking officer on the spot.
“A similar system is applied in the area of the Upper Town, where a daily parking ticket coasts150 HRK. This measure was introduced to reduce the damage done to the old town as much as we can, which is what we are doing at Bundek as well – trying to prevent damage done to the green spaces. The wild parking was simply not adequate,” a Zagrebparking spokesperson said for Večernji.
Even though most citizens were furious, some welcomed the decision, commenting that Bundek will be a more pleasant place to stay without cars on the grass, adding that there are more than enough spaces to park just a few minutes away.
