September the 6th, 2023 – A rather unfortunate event for Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic as “nature called” for a seagull flying over his head while he was addressing a crowd.
For the superstitious, a seagull (or indeed any other bird) “dropping anchor” on you is good luck, while for others, it means turning the washing machine on sooner than you’d like. Fortunately, for Plenkovic, it was deemed to be the former.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, a journalist asked Plenkovic: “Can the margins of large retail companies and those in the tourism sector be taxed? The opposition claims that it can…”, as the Prime Minister began to respond during his visit to the Central Dalmatian island of Brac, the attention quickly moved away from him, being diverted to – a bird.
As he was about to answer the question about the retail sector, a topic that has been dominating the headlines for some time now for less than positive reasons, something warm dripped down on the prime minister’s jacket.
Looking up at the sky after noticing the sticky white substance, Andrej Plenkovic concluded: “A seagull… Would you look at that, well, this is some good luck!”. The crowd and seemingly Plenkovic himself was amused by the bird’s choice of target, and he cleaned off his jacket before continuing answering questions from the press.
