ZAGREB, September 14, 2018 – The barracks of the 116th Croatian Army Brigade was inaugurated in Ploče on Friday on the occasion of Croatian Navy Day. At the opening ceremony, President and Supreme Commander Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović said that the return of the army to the southern port of Ploče was of exceptional national importance.
The barracks will accommodate the navy and landing craft infantry company,
Addressing those attending the ceremony, Grabar-Kitarović said that the return of the Croatian Army to Ploče was of exceptional national importance.
The barracks is named “The Croatian Army 116th Brigade” and its first war commander was Colonel Nedjeljko Obradović.
The barracks are equipped in a way which allows the navy and landing craft infantry company to intervene fast to protect residents along the coast and on southern Croatian islands.
The ceremony was attended by MP Branko Bačić of the Crotian Democratic Union, as an envoy of Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković.
