ZAGREB, July 10, 2020 – The Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport has been informed in a letter from the US Coast Guard that ships sailing under the Croatian flag have met the highest criteria of safety and quality in the previous three years as prescribed by the Qualship 21 eligibility criteria.
Conditions determined with Qualship 21 are very high and the number of incidents of being stopped at US ports has to be less than 1% over a three-year period, and ships sailing under the Croatian flag have met these criteria, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
The ministry explained that all foreign-flagged vessels are examined no less than once a year by the US Port State Control.
Advancing the status of Croatian flagged-ships to meet Qualship 21 criteria is a valuable achievement by the ministry, the Croatian ship register and Croatian shipping companies whose vessels sail in international waters, the ministry said.
