ZAGREB, February 25, 2018 – Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Koržinek said on Sunday she would try to set two foundations for the development of Croatian culture in the rest of her term in office, a reform of the culture system and good preparation for absorbing European funds in the new financial perspective.
Speaking on a Croatian Television talk show, the minister said Croatia already had great possibilities for absorbing European culture funds, but that this did not mean that one should not insist on setting aside more money for culture in the national budget, currently standing at 0.91% of GDP.
She said that, in the first financial perspective, Croatia did not define the needs of culture well enough, and over the next two years she would work on improving fund absorption for the entire culture sector.
The minister also said that the Electronic Media Act would be amended in the last quarter of this year and that media bills would be drawn up next year, including amendments to the laws on the public broadcaster and Hina.
