Sanader will be released after 3 PM, journalists are already camping in front of Remetinec prison

Out-of-Court Council of the Zagreb County Court retracted remand prison for Croatia’s former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and he is expected to be released this afternoon, reports Jutarnji List on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.

County Court’s decision comes just one day after the Constitutional Court concluded that Sanader’s prison stay was illegally prolonged by the Supreme Court. Both sides have the right to appeal this decision but it will not postpone its enforcement.

Sanader has been in Remetinec prison since November 2012 after he was sentenced in cases Hypo and Ina Mol (same sentence was briefly revoked). Before he was remanded in Remetinec, Sanader was briefly held in custody in Austria when he tried to flee the country.
