Dubrovnik’s current city administration views the company as one of strategic interest for the city.

As Dubrovnik Press Portal reports on the 22nd of September, 2017, Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik, Mato Franković, accompanied by consultant for coastal and maritime projects Pero Kulaš have met with representatives of workers and small shareholders of the company Luka Dubrovnik d.d.

”The Port of Dubrovnik (Luka Dubrovnik d.d.) is of strategic interest to the City of Dubrovnik. It may not have been so perceived in such a way in the past, but this [current] city administration looks at it differently.” said Mayor Franković in conversation with small shareholders.

He also reiterated his views on the destiny of the future terminal for cruise ships.

”The Port of Dubrovnik needs to be built and managed by the terminal, because every arrival of a foreign concessionaire would mean the destruction of Luka Dubrovnik as one of the most important companies in the portfolio of the City of Dubrovnik,” stated the Mayor.

In an open conversation, representatives of small shareholders thanked Mayor Franković and Pero Kulaš for the initiatives and presented their reflections on the future of the Port of Dubrovnik.

“The status of Luka Dubrovnik as a powerful company that will strengthen its business position is in the mutual interest of the City of Dubrovnik as the largest individual shareholder and the body of this joint stock company.” reads a statement from Dubrovnik’s city administration.
