Greenpeace on Dubrovnik UNESCO Walls: Thanks Firefighters, Asks Tourism or Oil?

Total Croatia News

A poignant thank you for Croatia’s firefighters and a plea to stop the plans for Adriatic drilling appear on Dubrovnik’s historic walls.

A picturesque stunt by Greenpeace Croatia in the early hours of July 25, 2015, as the historic walls of Dubrovnik, a World Heritage Site, turned an environmentally-friendly shade of green briefly, as the environmental campaigning group focused attention on some important issues.

First up was a thank you to the current heroes of Croatia – its firefighters – who have worked incredible hours in horrendous conditions to battle the various fires that have been devastating the country from Peljesac to Istria. The battle continues.

Heroic recognition apart, the main message was the focus on the decision to drill for oil in the Adriatic, with the main decision in the process summed up very succinctly. Turizam ili Nafta, which many see as not able to exist side by side.

Tourism or oil?
