ZAGREB, March 30, 2018 – Croatia’s ambassador in Moscow was told on Friday that Russia is expelling one Croatian diplomat, the Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Ministry (MVEP) said.
The move comes as part of Russia’s retaliatory measures in a standoff with the West over the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Britain.
“Croatia’s ambassador in Moscow, Tonči Stančić, was informed of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s decision to withdraw its welcome to one Croatian diplomat, a former employee at the Croatian Embassy in Moscow,” MVEP said in a press release.
After British Prime Minister Theresa May called on European countries to stand against Russia in the wake of the chemical poisoning of Sergei Skipal and his daughter in Salisbury, Croatia decided to show its solidarity with London and withdrew its welcome to one Russian Embassy diplomat in Zagreb.
