One of the themes the two leaders will discuss will be the current situation in Southeastern Europe, with particular emphasis placed on Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As RTL writes on the 8th of January, 2018, according to what is currently known from Pantovčak, the main topic of the meeting between the two leaders will be the current situation in Southeastern Europe, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Croatia’s President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will be on a one-day working visit to Turkey on Tuesday the 9th of January, and the main event will naturally be a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As reported by Pantovčak, aside from discussions about the current state of Southeastern Europe, the two are set to discuss relations between the European Union and Turkey and the role of the Turkish capital of Ankara in managing migration.

When neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina is in question, the Croatian president intends to talk with her Turkish counterpart about the role of the two countries in encouraging both Croats and Bosniaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage in productive dialogue and come to agreements, especially on electoral legislation ahead of the October general elections in that country.

Grabar-Kitarović and Erdogan will also discuss the possible holding of a trilateral meeting between Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Turkey at the highest level in the first quarter of this year.

In addition to European issues, there will be discussions on the state of the Middle East and the conflict in Syria.

Erdogan visited Zagreb back in April 2016 where spoke with some figures from the very top of the state in Croatia and attended a celebration of Islam in the Republic of Croatia.

Back then, the main topic of discussion was a trilateral meeting between Zagreb, Croatia, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ankara, Turkey.
