Four migrants were found hiding in a truck in Zagreb.

Four illegal immigrants, three citizens of Pakistan and one citizen of Afghanistan, were found hidden in a truck with Albanian licence plates in the area of a truck terminal in Jankomir neighbourhood in Zagreb, reports 24sata.hr on February 8, 2017.

After they were discovered, they were brought to the police station, where the police has questioned them. One of the key questions is how did they find their way to the truck and where and how they entered Croatia.

Police received a tip about 11 am from the Customs Administration, which probably means that customs officers had noticed something suspicious during the customs check, so they decided to call the police.

The police sources in Zagreb confirmed only that the migrants were found in the truck, but did not want to discuss the details before they complete the investigation. For now, it is not known how long the migrants were in the truck and in what kind of condition they were found.

According to an eyewitness, a coughing sound could be heard from the truck, which made it obvious that someone was hiding among the goods in the truck. “No one wanted to touch anything until the police arrived. Little bit later, a van full of police officers appeared, accompanied by customs officers. The driver opened the truck and illegal migrants appeared”, said the witness.

As can be seen in the video, four young men jumped from the truck one by one. According to estimate, they were aged between 25 and 30. They were dressed in jackets, jeans, and had hats or hoods on their heads. One of them had a large black backpack. They were quite dirty and muddy, as if they had spent a long time walking around in the mud.

“They looked sick and cold and were coughing while police was searching them. They were calm and did not resist the police”, said the witness.

The police confirmed that they had intervened at Jankomir. The men were detained at the police station in order to determine their identity and circumstances of how they entered Croatia.
