Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić and his “For Prime Minister” coalition present their manifesto.
Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić and member of his “For Prime Minister” coalition held an event in Knin on Wednesday morning where they presented their election manifesto, reports N1 on August 10, 2016.
“There will be no progress in Croatia, until we start promoting five ideas”, said Bandić at the beginning of his speech. “The first is the affirmation of knowledge, expertise and competence, instead of having political cronies in influential position. This is what has been destroying this country for the last 26 years. You can witness it again these days and on Friday when there will be a debate between two men who are the same”, said Bandić, alluding to a TV debate between presidents of HDZ and SDP.
The second is the promote the idea of working. “In Croatia, we should draw a line and stop distributing money which has not been earned and awarding those who do not want to work. European countries have already done that a long time ago, but we live on credit and loans”, said Bandić.
The next problem is the affirmation of family and demographic renewal. “This is the only core of Croatian people and citizens of this country, which they are trying to destroy”, said the Mayor in Knin. The fourth issue is the affirmation of solidarity, which does not exist anywhere except in the city which he has been running for the last 16 years. “The final issue is a sense of community which Croatia desperately needs. It needs a person who will do that”, said Bandić.
He explained what he would do if he is elected. “We need a government that will work, a prime minister who will serve the citizens, watch over every corner of Croatia, as I do it in Zagreb, 16 hours a day, 365 days a year. Determination is a notion which does not exist in Croatia, just like there is no accountability. These concepts should be introduced in the Croatian political practice”, continued Bandić.
“I am confident that on 11 September we will create the preconditions necessary to make Croatia better for everybody, a European Croatia, just like we made Zagreb to be a city for everyone. In Croatia, there is room for everybody, no one is redundant. The Second World War has ended. Given all the evils that have swept through the region over the past centuries, we need a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional and multicultural Croatia”, said Bandić.
Asked about possible coalition partners, Bandić was less than clear. “The only real coalition partners of the For Prime Minister coalition are the citizens of Croatia. Croatia needs a regular person”, concluded the Mayor.
For Prime Minister coalition includes the Bandić Milan 365 Party, the Reformist Party led by former Deputy Prime Minister Radimir Čačić, the New Wave party led by former Economy Minister Ljubo Jurčić, the Pensioners Together Block, and HSS Stjepan Radić. The coalition was presented on Tuesday in Vukovar.
