Milan Bandic forms a political coalition ahead of the elections.

The mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić has announced that on Tuesday his party, Milan Bandić 365 – The Party of Labour and Solidarity, will sign a coalition agreement with the Istrian Democrats, Democratic Party of Women, Croatian Workers’ Party, Green Alliance and Green Party. The announcement came during Bandić’s press conference in Rijeka, reports Index.hr on September 21, 2015.

Bandić stressed that he had decided to field candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections because after 16 years, when he became the mayor of Croatian capital, Zagreb has become a European metropolis and now he wants the rest of Croatia to reach the same level, “provided the people want to reach it”.

“I am not just participating in these elections, I am going to win them”, said Bandić, adding that he is ready to form a coalition after the elections with “all those who are on the side of honest labour, who have done something, whose actions speak louder than words”.

He stressed that the Croatian citizens are tired of all the divisions, and that they need someone like him “who is willing to climb over obstacles”. “We are not going to go right, we are not going to go left, because we have no time. What we need are work and unity”, said Bandić.

President of the Green Party Aljoša Babić said that a broad coalition is being created, a coalition in which there are workers, women and senior citizens, and that in the coalition there is enough room for green ideas as well.

President of the Green Alliance Josip Anton Rupnik said that his political party is committed to sustainable development of the economy, social justice, environmental protection and nature, and reduction in the number of counties, municipalities and cities.
