MOST: Karamarko Is Primarily HDZ’s Problem

MOST representatives comment on the fate of First Deputy Prime Minister.

Commenting on the latest Facebook post by MOST, which claimed that the events surrounding First Deputy Prime Minister and HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko were primarily HDZ’s problem, Minister of Environmental Protection and Nature Slaven Dobrović (MOST) said that responsibility was very important and that everyone should be responsible for their actions, reports Index.hr on May 22, 2016.

“Look, I would not go in details. I just think that being responsible is very important. Everyone must be held responsible for their actions”, said Dobrović on Sunday. If it is found that actions of Mr. Karamarko are not compatible with the position he now holds, I guess he will himself come to the conclusion on his own”, added Dobrović.

On Saturday, MOST published a post on Facebook in relation to Karamarko’s alleged conflict of interest, saying that the current events around Karamarko were “primarily HDZ’s problem” and that “MOST had absolutely no problem with such matters”. “Our focus is on taking care of national interests, not personal political positions. This includes a change of political culture and a high degree of political sensitivity towards the public good and not personal interests”, said MOST.

They added that “there were no ‘sacred names’, no individuals whose political position would be more important than the entire government, let alone the wellbeing of Croatia”.

“Some MOST representatives presented their personal views on the Karamarko case, which is not the position of MOST, which will certainly not be influenced by thinking about possible destabilization of the government”, said MOST in its Facebook post.

The post was presumably referring to a statement given on Saturday by MOST’s MP Juro Martinović, who said that MOST was against destabilizing the government. “The motion of no confidence is a classic act of the opposition which they would like to use to destabilize the parliamentary majority, to produce something that suits them – reshuffle or new elections. However, that does not suit neither MOST nor me personally.” He added that, as a part of the parliamentary majority, they would not do anything to disrupt it.
