Media publish unofficial results of a national poll that the agency which conducted it refused to release officially.

Although the Promocija Plus agency a few days ago announced that this month it would not publish its regular CRO Demoskop poll, which is a monthly analysis of political preferences of voters, because they did not want the results of the poll to become a subject of political debate, Index.hr managed to get the results from unofficial sources.

Data were collected in the period from 1 to 3 September, on a sample of 1,300 respondents. In this national poll, SDP and its coalition partners receive 34.5 percent of voter support (0.1 percent more than in August). HDZ and partners are second, with the support of 27.2 percent of voters (0.8 percent more than in August).

The third place belongs to MOST, with 8.8 percent support (1.6 percent less than in August). The three largest parties are followed by Živi Zid with 6 percent (0.4 percent less than a month ago), Bandić Milan 365 with 3.1 percent (1 percent more than in August), regional parties HDSSB and IDS, and Pametno. About 10 percent of voters are still undecided.

The results of this national poll differ quite a bit from recent polls conducted by three national television channels, which conducted separate polls of each of the ten parliamentary constituencies. Here are the results of these three polls released during the last two weeks.

Nova TV: SDP 55, HDZ 53, MOST 12, Živi Zid 8, IDS 3, Milan Bandić 7, HDSSB 1, Pametno 1
HRT poll: SDP 61, HDZ 56 MOST 13, Živi Zid 6, IDS 3, Milan Bandić 0, HDSSB 1
RTL poll: SDP 62, HDZ 55, MOST 12, Živi Zid 3, IDS 3, Milan Bandić 3, HDSSB 2

The latest national poll is the most current one, so it could either point to certain trends, or it might simply and more probably be an outlier.

Interestingly, before last year’s elections, Promocija Plus also decided against publishing the results of the monthly poll. “We wanted to avoid the possibility that the results of our poll would become the subject of political discussion at a time when the main debate should involve the manifestos of political parties”, announced Promocija Plus at the time.
