Plenković to Attend World Economic Forum in Davos

ZAGREB, January 23, 2018 – Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković will take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday and Friday and hold a number of bilateral meetings with world political and business leaders.

The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, which kicked off on Tuesday, brought together over 2,500 participants and 70 world leaders, including many European leaders – French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Theresa May and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni. On Tuesday, the Forum was addressed by the Prime Minister of India, Narenda Modi. U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the event on Friday.

Plenković is scheduled to arrive in Davos early on Thursday and hold a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sources in the Croatian government told Hina.

Apart of Netanyahu, Plenković will also hold bilateral meetings with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Albanian PM Edi Rama and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

On Thursday, the Croatian PM will also hold talks with global business leaders.

On Friday, he will meet European Investment Bank president Werner Hoyer, European Trade Union Confederation secretary general Luca Visentini and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

Plenković is scheduled to take part in three debates at the Forum. He will also be present when U.S. President Trump is scheduled to address the event.
