A long-awaited police action against Agrokor’s owner Ivica Todorić has begun.

In the early morning, a long-awaited police action against Agrokor’s owner Ivica Todorić and former members of the company’s management board has begun, reports Index.hr on October 16, 2017.

In front of the Kulmerovi Dvori palace, where the Todorić family used to live, several police cars appeared. The police are also searching the homes of Ivica Crnjac and Ljerka Puljić, former Todorić’s closest associates, as well as other former members of Agrokor’s board.

It is interesting to note that over the weekend there were several indicators which showed that the start of police action was near. A meeting in the government building was held on Saturday, where the cabinet discussed the crisis in Agrokor, along with Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandroković.

At the end of the meeting, Jadroković said that the parliamentary committee of inquiry on Agrokor should be suspended if the State Attorney’s Office launched a formal investigation. The committee was established just a few days ago and has not yet held a single session. That provoked a fierce reaction of Ivica Todorić, who asked on his blog how was it possible that Jandroković knew the arrests would commence.

Todorić’s attorney Jadranka Sloković and Čedo Prodanović came to the Todorić family home. Prodanović said that the media were better informed about what was going on than them.

According to unofficial information, about 300 police officers are currently searching over 60 locations.

It is not known where Todorić currently is, but an attorney has confirmed that his son Ante Todorić officially cancelled his residency in Croatia and registered in London a month and a half ago.

Todorić and former members of the company’s management board are being investigated for presenting false financial statements in the period from 2006 to 2017.

More information should be known during the day.
