ZAGREB, February 14, 2018 – Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović said on Tuesday evening, after her Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić ended his two-day official visit to Croatia, that she had held talks with an “European Vučić ” who differed from Vučić in the 1990s.
“The Vučić I have talked with is an European Vucic. Absolutely and definitely. We have discussed ways how to help our respective peoples and countries. It is important for me what Vučić will do for the Croats in Serbia, and for their rights which they have been seeking for decades to be entitled to ,” Grabar-Kitarović said in an interview with the commercial NOVA TV broadcaster.
Concerning the Croatian public’s insistence that Vučić should have apologised for his war-mongering speeches in the 1990s and his support to the Serb rebel forces in Croatia in that period, Grabar-Kitarović said she had not expected any apologies.
“Apologies are a personal matter. I will not comment on that. Anyone can offer an apology any time and in any way. However, actions speak louder than words,” she said.
