Prime Minister holds meeting with trade unions.
Following a meeting with the trade unions on February 6, 2106, Oreskovic said that one of the main discussions was how to raise the standard of living for everyone, it was also added that the unions are partners of the Government and thus they will go forward together.
“We discussed the Croatian economy, with the Minister of Finance Zdravko Maric, we presented numerical indicators and we had an open discussion on the matter. I took the opportunity to present our programs and how we hopefully aim to reduce the debt, but the main focus was to raise the general standard for all.” says Oreskovic. He pointed out that he and Maric had discussed a salary increase by 6 percent in both state and public services.
In addition, he said that he hopes next week he will make a decision on who will be the new Minister of Veterans following the recent scandals on the topic.
His comments about HDZ’s proposition of €1000 for each newborn were quite vague but many who are frustrated with the ”all talk no action” stance regarding this were glad that the subject was at least being discussed.
“We have to make a budget and then we’ll see” said Oreskovic.
At the end of the meeting, journalists were a wished pleasant weekend although media representatives still wanted to ask questions.
It seems that only time will tell.
