A former Presidential candidate to be a future Prime Minister?

The mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić was a guest this morning on the N1 Television where he commented on the current political events and revealed his own plans for the future, reports Vecernji List on August 31, 2015.

Talking about the growth of GDP, the mayor pointed out that the unemployment rate in Zagreb is half what it is in other parts of Croatia. “However, we are not satisfied even with that. I worry about Vukovar, Lika and other Croatian regions. I cannot be happy if only in Zagreb things are going well. That is not enough. It is the task of the future government to adopt a strategy which will lead to the balanced development of the whole Croatia”, said Bandić.

Asked if prime minister Zoran Milanović had been a success, Bandić replied that the government “was sleeping for three years, and now, with six months before the elections, they have intensified their activities”.

“The citizens will be the judge of that. Every nation has the government it deserves. What they have been doing for three and a half years does not inspire confidence. We are going to the polls together with the citizens who are our real coalition partners. Without us, no one will be able to form the next government”, said the mayor.

He revealed that, in the future, he sees himself in any role in which he can contribute to Croatia, including the role of prime minister. “Well, if the 16 years and five terms have not been enough of reference that confirm I can be the future prime minister of Croatia, who else has done something like that? No one had won two terms at the top of the Croatian politics, and this is my fifth term as mayor. Without me, no one will be able to form the government. I am ready to be the prime minister”, said Bandić.
