Istria keeps breaking records in tourism this year
Apart from record numbers of visitors reported in the region and in individual cities, another accomplishment for Istria comes from Pula Airport: 154.122 passengers passed through the airport in July 2017, making for an impressive increase of 32.5% compared with the same month last year.
The lucrative season started in June, when the airport recorded almost 95.000 passengers, marking an increase of 40% compared with the same period in 2016. If this trend of business growth continues, this summer season is sure to surpass the last one that was marked excellent in the first place.
Taking the entire first half of the year into consideration, Pula Airport recorded 315.704 passengers from January 1 to July 31, making for an increase of 34.6% compared with 2016.
Last year, the airport recorded a total of 436.121 passengers, a number that could be reached as early as this month. It’s worth noting the airport was closed for construction work in February – if it were operating, the number of passengers would be a couple of thousands higher already.
Airport director Svemir Radmilo stated they are expecting to reach the half-million mark in September. “All indicators show we’ll reach our target by the end of the year, meaning we’ll surpass a total of 600.000 passengers at Pula Airport in 2017. We’re helped by the fact the airport will continue to operate in the winter period as well, with the airline Eurowings and their flight to Düsseldorf on Thursdays and Saturdays. said Radmilo.
