June the 17th, 2025 – The very first RokPoluotok gathering of 2025 is scheduled for this Sunday in gorgeous Fažana, Istria.

The Rokpoluotok 2025 project is set to kick off with a swim from Pula to Fažana. The first gathering with children for this year will begin with a search for hidden treasures, a clean-up campaign and the installation of geocaches. That will take place on June the 22nd at 18:00 on the children’s playground beach.

Also scheduled for Sunday, June the 22nd, the second season of the RokPoluotok sports and educational project will start with a swim from Galebovi stijene near Pula to Fažana. That will begin in the early morning hours to avoid traffic, crowds and any waves. The expected arrival of the swimmers, led by Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish, to the 8,000-metre distant finish line is around 09:00. From then on, everything will be prepared for the evening gathering at 18:00 on the Children’s playground beach in Fažana, where Kaufland will treat the children to ice cream.

more about the rokpoluotok project

Well known Croatian food blogger, host and retired geography professor Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish initially launched the RokOtok project. In that, he swam to all of the inhabited Croatian islands. He will now try to do the same by swimming the entirety of the Istrian peninsula. It’s important to emphasise that these are large bodies of water and long swims. They’re exclusively for professional swimmers accompanied by a boat. Swimming with children has been organised only along the beaches where there will be a welcome reception.

The message that RokOtok and RokPoluotok want to send is that both children and adults need to spend more quality time socialising and out enjoying nature. Through lectures, workshops and socialising on the beaches, the intent is to have parents and their kids spend a few hours outdoors playing and having fun. The aim is to prove to everyone that everything is better when there’s more balance and when more time is spent outside in the fresh air instead of staring at screens.

RokOtok has already received numerous awards. It was declared the most beautiful story of the summer of 2019, with recognition from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Local Hero and the Pride of Croatia. With the Cleaning Bears Association, RokOtok participants have carried out hundreds of environmental cleanup actions during the cooler part of the year. There’s also the Čikolov action, where people come together to remove cigarette butts from the environment.
