June the 18th, 2025 – Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac has unveiled an impressive new-era Bugatti prototype with an advanced hybrid powertrain.
Mate Rimac is once again making waves in the automotive world, with the new-era Bugatti set to have the world’s eyes on this doggedly determined inventor.
According to Poslovni Dnevnik, Rimac recently announced that their stunning new Bugatti Tourbillon model is entering the second phase of development. That phase is known as VP (Validation Prototype), during which the vehicle must be between 90 and 95% finished. The presentation precisely explained all three key development phases of the vehicle, according to a report from Bljesak.info.
The new Tourbillon uses an advanced hybrid drive system in which the electric circuit and the internal combustion engine perfectly complement each other. The electric drive provides a very strong response at low revs and eliminates the need to downshift. The rear drive train consists of a naturally aspirated V16 engine, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and an electric differential with torque distribution function. It integrates an electric motor with a power of 250 kW (over 300 hp) that reaches 24,000 rpm. The entire system weighs only 430 kilograms, which makes it significantly lighter compared to the previous Chiron model’s powertrain.
In addition to contributing to the drive, the electric motor also performs the functions of a starter and a generator. If the battery is discharged, the engine can charge the system even while the vehicle is stationary, as well as if it is in motion. A T-shaped battery is located in the car’s front part, which utilises direct oil cooling technology, which is a concept taken directly from motor sport.
