June the 19th, 2023 – Split ranks very highly as a destination for Scandinavian tourists, at least according to the largest private Nordic travel agency – Ticket.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Dalmatian City of Split ranks second among the most popular summer destinations for Scandinavian travellers. This was very clearly shown by the data of Ticket, the largest chain of private travel agencies in the entire Nordic region, through which the trips of almost all leading charter companies, tour operators, airlines, cruise lines, and hotel companies are sold.

Excellent news for Croatia on the Scandinavian markets

“This is excellent news that confirms the popularity of not only Split for of Croatia as a whole on the Scandinavian markets. In the current part of the year, according to the data of the eVisitor system, we’ve recorded excellent results in terms of tourist traffic from the markets of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, which is in a double-digit increase compared to last year’s results. During the rest of the year, we expect a continuation of this positive trend and a strong contribution of the Scandinavian markets to the overall tourism results of Croatia”, said Vedran Susic, the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) Representative Office for Scandinavia.

Mallorca, London. Crete and even Bangkok…

At the top of the list of most popular destinations as listed by Ticket is the Balearic island of Mallorca, followed by Split, then by London, Crete, Barcelona, Nice, Rome, Rhodes, Bangkok and Cyprus. It’s particularly interesting to note that 8 of the 10 most popular summer destinations are located around the Mediterranean Sea. This was also confirmed by Vincent Goodbrand from Ticket, who said that destinations on the Mediterranean attract Swedish travellers because they offer a perfect combination of sun, culture and exciting experiences, not to mention good traffic connections with direct flights, which also helps a lot.

Split stands out from the rest

The description of Split states that it is a destination that stands out for its ancient city centre, the impressive Diocletian’s Palace and its rich cultural and historical heritage, which, combined with the beautiful coastline, makes the city an ideal destination for a summer holiday.
