September the 18th, 2024 – The Split Sailing Festival is set to celebrate Dalmatia’s ancient relationship with the sea through an array of different manifestations under one umbrella.

As Morski writes, the upcoming Split Sailing Festival (Splitski Festival Jedrenja) is set to take place from September the 21st to October the 20th, 2024. It represents the pinnacle of sailing and entertainment events in Split and Dalmatia as a whole, and spotlights the endlessly rich maritime heritage and traditions of this region of Croatia.

This year, the Split Sailing Festival is set to be a very special one because it is being held to mark the hundredth anniversary of organised sailing in Croatian waters. Particular emphasis will be placed the jubilee anniversary of the Labud (Swan) Sailing Club. The central event of the festival will be the 93rd Mrduja regatta, which will be held on October the 5th, 2024.

The Split Sailing Festival will kick off on the 21st of September with the Bobovišća Labud Classic regatta, and will end almost one exact month later on October the 20th with the jubilee 80th Viška (Vis) Regatta, which is otherwise most significant regatta on the Croatian side of the Adriatic Sea. It also represents the pinnacle of the sailing calendar in Croatia, and is a perfect way to truly round off the summer.

Here are the specific dates of individual regattas being held as part of the wider Split Sailing Festival:

  • Bobovišća Labud Classic: From the 21st to the 22nd of September
  • Mala Mrduja – Mrduja Optimist Cup: From the 27th to the 29th of September
  • The 93rd Mrduja Regatta: On October the 5th
  • The 80th Vis Regatta: From the 18th to the 20th of October

In addition to sporting attractions, the upcoming festival will offer all participants (as well as guests of Split and Dalmatia) entertainment programmes and culinary experiences. There will also be prize draws and competitions.
