December the 17th, 2024 – The beautiful city of Split has risen in popularity according to the latest Travel Horizons report.

Croatia’s second largest city and Dalmatia’s capital, Split is a city that has everything from the urban to the natural, as well as connections to some of the most beautiful central Dalmatian islands. It has always been popular among visitors to Croatia and indeed with Croats from the continental part of the country, and it seems that that trend isn’t set to alter anytime soon.

As Morski writes, a recently released report by the heavily frequented Travel Horizons platform has revealed which tourist destinations have seen their popularity increase throughout the current year when compared to 2023. The timeless city of Split is firmly on the Travel Horizons list, right behind the quirky German city of Munich.

According to the report, there has been a 100 percent increase in bookings for one European region compared to last year, and that’s the nearby and truly stunning coastline of Albania. Albania is thus becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, and is particularly attractive for its beautiful beaches and jaw-dropping landscapes.

In second place, with a 98 percent increase in searches this year, was neighbouring Montenegro, which has become famous as a cheap Mediterranean destination. In third place is Turkey’s Istanbul, as reported by the TimeOut portal.

The position of Split on the Travel Horizons list, nestled between Munich and Zanzibar, is more than likely to rise and more people flock to the Dalmatian for its own gems as opposed to merely a destination from which to catch a ferry to a nearby island or two.
