Flagship international series of inshore circuit Formula 1 Powerboat Racing adds Croatia to its official calendar
Idea Marketing SA confirmed on January 26, 2016, that the 2016 UIM F1H2O World Powerboat Championship will add some new locations to its now extended calendar with Croatia set to make its first appearance on June 3-5.
Even though the exact location is yet to be confirmed, the fact that this widely popular and extremely attractive water sport is coming to Croatia is great news, especially since it has a worldwide following meaning more tourists will include our country in their travel itinerary.
Water Formula 1 (F1H2O) is the most popular extreme water moto-sport. It owes its global popularity to the unique combination of challenges, risks and pure adrenalin. Other destinations hosting this elite championship include Dubai, Evian, Abu Dhabi, Lingzhou and Harbin in China.
F1H2O World Championship is a three-day competition (training, qualifications and final World Championship race) and additional two days for preparations. Croatia will host 10 teams with 30 drivers and their entire entourage along with fans and numerous VIP guests.
“Water Formula 1 World Championships are always organised in elite tourist destinations. Responsible international organizations in charge of licencing have been looking at Croatia for a while and now since it is listed as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world, they approved the license and added it to the official calendar” says Natko Bošnjak, owner of the F1H2O license for Croatia adding that this competition offers fantastic promotion opportunities both to the host city and the country.
Organisers are still negotiating with several cities, they have narrowed the list down to several tourist destinations on the coast: “Even though I would love to give you a confirmation, I still can’t tell you which Croatian city will host this event” Bošnjak was mysterious adding that the event will definitely have an impact on economic, political and social development of Croatia.
