The Nikola Tesla EV Rally Croatia 2016 begins on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in Poreč, Istria. The third instalment of the one-of-a-kind electric vehicle rally is set to take place from June 1-5 and lead from Poreč over Opatija and Sibenik to the finish line at the Jelačić Square in Zagreb.
Rally organisers EVA BLUE have set up charging stations along the Electric Touristic Route where we set a numbers of charging stations. They also point out that connecting the most beautiful and significant locations in Croatia with emobility, promoting sustainable energy, organically grown food and setting infrastructure for electric cars. Organisers of the Rally invented a smart solar/wind charging system with energy storage, and built over 50% of all charging stations in Croatia. Participants of the rally include Croatia’s leading clean-energy, technology and automotive companies E.V.A. Blue, Rimac, DOK-ING, Ducatti Komponenti, Bellabeat, and others. Most of the cars competing will be Tesla’s, Rimac founder and CEO Mate Rimac is set to take part in the rally in his Cocept S, the DOK-ING teams in their Loox’s, etc. The rally aims to promote electro-mobility and the establishment of the needed infrastructure in Croatia and Europe and to strengthen the tourism, technology and energy potential of the country and, not least, to be fun and exciting for participants, spectators and visitors at the stops of the rally.
The 1,200 kilometre route of the rally will take the teams through fabulous landscape to some of the most beautiful sights of the country, such as the cities of Poreč, Rovinj, Pula, Labin, Opatija, Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Karlovac and Zagreb and the National Parks of Brijuni, Plitvička Jezera and Paklenica. A highlight for the participating drivers and teams will be a visit to the birth place of inventor and visionary Nikola Tesla in Smiljan and the Nikola Tesla Thematic Park. This is not just a race from point A to point B. LA Times said bout the Rally is the mostbeautiful rally ever, because of the beautiful locations such as the National Parks. The route also includes a visit to the first world hydro power plant built from Nikola Tesla drawings (at the same timeframe as the Niagara Falls Hydro Plant). The Rally has been organised without the support of the National Tourist Board (HTZ) and the National Power Company (HEP).

The teams at the rally consist of an interesting international mixture of e-mobilists, entrepreneurs, media-moguls, globetrotters, tourists and adventurers who all claim to be in the competition to enjoy the drive, see the sites, enjoy local gastronomy and accommodation in the top hotels along the route, but all of them also want to win the trophy. The majority of the drivers are electro-vehicle owners, many of them German Tesla owners which have been discussing every aspect of the rally for months now at an online Tesla forum, but some will also rent cars to participate.
EVA BLUE electric scooters and other devices will be available for test drives at the stops of the rally.
The rally will be covered by Croatian, German (FAZ) and other national and international media.
