Čilić Faster Than The Rain At Wimbledon

Total Croatia News

It took two days and two rain delays, but only one hour and fifty minutes of play for the Croatian to secure his place in the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships.

The match between ninth-seeded Marin Čilić and Slovakian Lukas Lacko started yesterday and was stopped on two occasions due to rain. Play was suspended with the Croatian two sets ahead, and was resumed on July 2, 2016.

As clouds were gathering over the southwest London, there was a big chance for another delay, but Čilić had no plans to return to the court once more and finished the job before the rain started to pour again.

The final result was 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 for the Croatian number one, and even though the match took two days, the actual play time was less than two hours.

Marin Čilić will face the fourth-seeded Japanese Kei Nishikori in what will be the repeat of 2014 US Open final. As Marin won that one, we can only hope for the result to be repeated too. Here is the Marin Čilić’s post-match interwiew for the official Wimbledon website.
