December 28, 2023 – Croatia and North Macedonia will meet on June 3 in Rijeka ahead of EURO 2024 in Germany.
The Croatian Football Federation and the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) have agreed to play a friendly match between Croatia and North Macedonia in Rijeka this June.
The Croatian national team will face North Macedonia on June 3 at the HNK Rijeka stadium in Rijeka. It will be the ninth match between Croatia and North Macedonia. So far, Croatia has recorded five wins, two draws, and one loss.
“I thank my colleague President Muamed Sejdini and my friends from the Football Federation of Macedonia for the pleasant communication and agreement reached to play this friendly match, which perfectly fits into the national team plans ahead of the Euros. North Macedonia showed in the qualifications that it is an unpleasant rival even for the strongest national teams, so it will also be a serious test for Croatia ahead of the final preparations for the Euros. Fans at Rujevica will be able to enjoy an interesting and high-quality match”, said HNS president Marijan Kustić.
Croatia will prepare for EURO 2024 in Rijeka. After the match against North Macedonia, they will play another friendly match before going to their base camp in Neuruppin.
“North Macedonia is an excellent opponent for us in that first phase of the Euro preparations. It is a national team that drew at home against Italy and England this autumn, which shows that we are awaiting a real test where we will find out where we are and what we still need to work on before going to Germany. Considering the preparations in Rijeka, we wanted to play at Rujevica to avoid an additional trip, so this agreement fulfills everything we wanted from that first June game,” said coach Zlatko Dalić.
Before the Euros, Croatia will also have two friendly matches in March, and the names of the opponents will be announced later. Croatia is in Group B against Spain, Albania, and Italy at EURO 2024.
