August 3, 2024 – Croatia has advanced to the water polo quarterfinals at the Olympic Games in Paris!
In the fourth round of the Olympic Games in Paris, the Croatia water polo team beat Greece 14:13 (3-3, 1-3, 7-3, 3-4) and secured a place in the quarterfinals!
Croatia entered the match better, leading 3-1, but Greece scored four goals in a row to lead 5-3. Croatia equalized at the beginning of the third quarter (5-5) and then took the 11-9 lead at the end of that quarter.
In the last quarter, Greece equalized at 12-12, but Croatia took the 14-12 lead with two goals from Kharkov two minutes before the end. Greece reduced the score, and had the last 10 seconds to draw, but lost the ball.
Croatia was led to victory by Konstantin Kharkov with four goals. Jerko Marinić Kragić and Loren Fatović scored three goals each, while Toni Popadić had nine saves.
