Katarina Katić was diagnosed with leukaemia in April this year, but she has not given up. This passionate fan of the Croatian national football team has been involved in sports for the most of her life, which has helped her tolerate the illness better. She also received a boost by watching incredible matches of the Croatian football team at the recent World Cup in Russia, reports Jutarnji List on September 12, 2018.
There is a secret relationship between Katarina and the football team, which was confirmed on the morning after Croatia’s victory over England in Russia when Katarina defended her graduate thesis at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture.
Her friends decided to prepare for her a little surprise as a congratulation for her diploma and birthday, and they received help from the Croatian Football Federation and Croatia’s football star Šime Vrsaljko.
In an emotional post on Facebook, Katarina thanked everyone for the surprise, especially her friends who have been an incredible support in her difficult days.
“The only thing important in this story are my friends. They are the wind in my sails, my rock in the toughest moments of my life. I did not hope in my wildest dreams that they could do something like this. I do not think I am even completely aware of what has happened. A wonderful story of selflessness, giving, love and friendship that is just a continuation of what I have been living since April when I was diagnosed with leukaemia. They have been with me in my tough and my happy moments, just like me, if not more. This video is just the crown to all this, a small but wonderful part of our friendship. And that is where my fortune is, in the best friends one can have. You say I am brave, but with you, it is not hard to be brave at all,” wrote Katarina on Facebook.
