No Euro glory for Josip Pivarić.
Bad news for Dinamo and the Croatian national football team. Josip Pivarić, who was injured recently in a friendly match against Norway’s Stromsgodset, has hurt ligaments in his knee. Pivarić will not be able to play for about six months, so obviously he will not take part at the UEFA European Championship in France, reports Vecernji List on January 28, 2016.
“It could not have happened at a worse time. Nobody has managed to recuperate after such injury in just two months so I doubt I could do it”, said Pivarić and added: “Tomorrow, I will think differently, I will do my best to get back to playing as soon as possible.”
Dinamo coach Zoran Mamić wasn’t happy. “This is a big blow for us because he is a player who is a regular member of the first team and who is the basis of our power, aggression and quality. We will truly miss him on and off the field. Since he is such a hard worker and given how much time he needed to recover from his previous injuries, we believe he could be healthy by this summer, but he will probably be not ready to play at the European Championship.”
“It is a great pity. He has played great lately and he would be called to the national team. I am very sorry for him”, said Ante Čačić, the head coach of the Croatian national football team. “I like the way he plays. It has been a great satisfaction that he has confirmed everything what I had been saying about him. Unfortunately, now I can only wish him a quick recovery”, said Čačić.
It truly is a terrible shock for the player from Zelina near Zagreb who always gives his maximum effort at each and every single match, particularly now when he was just a step away from playing at the European Championship.
